We present a concise review of the status of the Standard Model and of the search for new physics. The results of the electroweak precision tests as well as of the searches for the Higgs boson and for new particles performed at LEP and SLC are now available in nearly final form. Taken together with the measurements of m t , m W and the searches for new physics at the Tevatron, and with some other data from low energy experiments, they form a very stringent set of precise constraints to compare with the Standard Model (SM) or with any of its conceivable extensions [1]. When confronted with these results, on the whole the SM performs rather well, so that it is fair to say that no clear indication for new physics emerges from the data. There are, however, a few results that show a 2-3σ deviation from the SM fit: for example, the NuTeV anomaly [2], atomic parity violation (APV) in Cs [3] and the muon g-2 [4].

We discuss the isospin symmetry breaking quantity ∆ ±0 ≡ Γ(B ± → ρ ± γ)/2Γ(B 0 → ρ 0 γ)−1, and the direct CP violation in B ± → ρ ± γ within and beyond the standard model.
